With the objective of becoming a university city, Igualada will create a new health campus originated by the alliance with the University of Lleida (UdL). The capital of l’Anoia will expand its university offer by joining the current University Campus, with studies attached to the UPC.
This new Campus will regroup in two phases the university studies that are currently taught in the city of Igualada in the structures of the UdL, extending the facilities and adding new official university degrees and vocational training courses.
On September 1, the Strategic Campus of Igualada was presented, with the presence of the President of the Generalitat, Carles Puigdemont, as well as the rector of the UdL, Roberto Fernández, the mayor of Igualada, Marc Castells, and the Secretary of Universities and Research, Arcadi Navarro, as well as several local authorities and representatives of the business and educational sectors of l’Anoia.
Strategic lines are intended to offer studies related to the industrial and business fabric of the area (textile, leather, paper and edition industry, and ICT companies), and interconnect vocational training courses with university studies, especially in engineering and health. The new training aims to link internships in companies of the territory in order to boost employment.
This important innovation will contribute to strengthening the Catalan university system, thus contributing to the fact that it remains one of the fundamental pillars for the future of Catalonia, which is already a leader in Europe.
From the Business Investment Attraction Office of the Mancomunitat we celebrate such initiatives to make our territory more competitive. #investMicod
