The German Ausbildung has become obsolete

Companies like Siemens hosted the German training program Ausbildung (Dual Professional Training), to promote learning through experience and training in the company environment, without any prior knowledge.

The objective of this system was to study a profession from two approaches, a practical one and a theoretician, focusing on the practical part centered on the company. In the short term, it is a very effective system, but in the long term, in the face of the changing environment and the rise of digital transformation, it is a system that leaves the skills of the workers obsolete.

With the incorporation of artificial intelligence and robotics, companies increase their business productivity but find it difficult to adapt to it. Training to carry out a task has been useful in the short term, but in a changing environment, having a strategic vision is paramount.

Bets for double elite training

The challenge of the companies is to get their staff to have the necessary skills to promote the new work systems that arise with the digital transformation.

In the face of a changing environment, it is essential to have a strategic vision and the ability to solve generic problems, especially with the incorporation of robotics, which requires a global analytical vision and not the development of specific skills.

In order to escape from the traditional vision of training to learn a profession and dedicate itself to life, the formation of a double elite emerges. This training system consists in using mechanisms of university education at the same time as professional, betting on people with undergraduate or master’s degrees and later on vocational training qualifications, with specialization.

The combination of the university training mechanisms with the professional, to get the job and know the particulars of the company to apply the knowledge perfectly, is the challenge of the workers in the digital revolution.
